SEL DU FEU | Guerande Sea Salt + Carolina Reaper + Turkish Aleppo

Guérande sea salt sets the mineral base. PGI standards confirm hand-harvesting, unwashed crystals, and no additives. Moist granules give clean salinity and a gentle crunch at the table. Built for finishing. Turkish Aleppo pepper adds sun-dried tomato, light fruit, and soft acidity with moderate heat. Carolina Reaper supplies a precise, extreme burn. Reaper is among the world’s hottest chilies; Pepper X holds the current record. The duet reads bright-fruity up front, then deep, lingering fire. Applications: grilled steak and lamb, roast potatoes and corn, fried or soft-scrambled eggs, charred greens, ramen, popcorn, and chili. Best used sparingly to finish plates for texture plus heat. The format matches the market language for spicy finishing salts. More about the Carolina Reaper: Bred by Ed “Smokin’ Ed” Currie of PuckerButt Pepper Company in South Carolina. Recognized by Guinness in 2013 with an average heat just over 1.56–1.64 million Scoville Heat Units. Pepper X replaced it as record holder in October 2023, but Reaper remains an extreme-heat “superhot.” Character: a brief sweet, fruity impression. Then a long, rising burn. Tasting notes reported by produce references include tropical fruit, red apple, peach, cinnamon or chocolate, with a hard-lingering finish. Use note in this salt: the Reaper fraction is kept low so the profile reads flavorful first, then intense. It is present to deliver a precise kick, not a stunt.
