Willow, Sandbar (Potted)

Sandbar willow provides exceptional value for wildlife habitat and erosion control, rapidly forming protective thickets. This selection is available as potted stock grown in root-prune pouches, allowing for planting flexibility throughout the growing season. It is an excellent option for projects requiring established plants that can integrate quickly into the site. Often cited as one of the easiest native plants to cultivate, Salix interior brings robust vitality to restoration sites and naturalized areas. Beyond its structural benefits, it supports specific pollinators, acting as a host plant for viceroy and mourning cloak larvae. The species is characterized by its ability to colonize and secure ground effectively. Sandbar willow functions well in hedgerows, wetland margins, and areas prone to fluctuating water levels. It is hardy in zones 3 through 8 and tolerates exposure ranging from full sun to partial shade. The plant is remarkably adaptable, capable of enduring drought as well as periods of inundation. Expect a mature size of around 10 feet tall and 7 feet wide, with a tendency to spread naturally.
